Prachin Panth Prakash, by Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangu of Meer Kot, published by Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan, Bhai Vir Singh Marg, New Delhi 110001, at Rs 250, in what is the eighth edition of February 2008, computerized; the title page also prints the full run of impressions from the first edition of March 1914 through 1931, 1952, 1962, 1982, 1993, 1998 and 2008. The writer of the first foreword, Bhai Sahib Prataap Singh Mahita, explains that he took up the work at the home of Sardar Sam Singh, the author's grandson and then head of the family at Meera Sahib in Patiala, and helped him gather and arrange the accounts of Sikh history down to the Misls era, drawing on what could be found in Punjab itself, on Sikh households and khanqah vichars, and on research then being carried out at Ludhiana.
