As the bhumiqa states, it covers Punjabi literature from the earliest (pre-Nanak) times up to 1700 AD, and was prepared for Punjab University Patiala's higher-secondary classes as part of its programme of publishing Punjabi textbooks. The colophon gives a price of Rs 20 and a 1999 issue, with typesetting by Darvesh Printers, Patiala.
