About this book
SapatSindhu (written in Gurmukhi Panjabi) is an article from Sukhdyal Singh’s book Punjab (Aad Kaal Ton Adunik Kaal Tak), covering pages 107–123. In this important study, Dr. Sukhdyal Singh examines the many misunderstandings surrounding the term “SapatSindhu,” including its geographical identification with Panjab and fluid theological meaning in early Vedic and later Puranic literature. He presents case that Sapatsindhu can never be used as name of Punjab in past. The article argues that many traditional descriptions of SapatSindhu are filled with contradictions, speculative interpretations, and interpolations presented as historical fact. Through critical analysis, the author challenges several widely accepted assumptions and carefully peels back layers of illogical hypotheses associated with the subject.
