What this book is about
Guru Nanak Sangeet Padhti Granth II is a collection of music, part two, edited by Prof. Sukhwant Singh, Principal of the Gur Shabad Sangeet Academy, Jawaddi Taksal, Ludhiana, with a sketch by S. Davinder Singh and Emrose, and published in 2006 by Swami Printers of Ludhiana. The preface is by Giani Jagjit Singh Ji of Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai, Amritsar, and traces the tradition of Sikh music through Bhai Mardana and Mardana's descendants, from the time of Guru Nanak to Guru Gobind Singh and the Gurus who followed, noting that music was constantly part of the Guru's daily life and that Guru Arjan Dev composed the first musical compositions. The text that follows consists largely of numbered music compositions with headings naming their sources, such as the first Adi Granth, the second Adi Granth, the Dasam Granth, Sukhmani, Shabad Guru Tegh Bahadur and Prachin. Beyond the preface the scan is a poor transliterated rendering and the individual pieces cannot be read with confidence.
