Nirukt Sri Guru Granth Sahib, covering parchi numbers 1797 to 3325, is Dr. Balbir Singh and Mahinder Kaur's edition produced under J.S. Anand in the Department of Guru Granth Sahib Studies at Panjab University, Patiala, first published in 1999 with a second edition of 1100 copies, printed by Mehserz Ram Printograph, New Delhi. The dedication states that the two authors died between 1975 and 1979, Dr. Balbir Singh on 1 October and Mahinder Kaur on 3 July 1975, and that the work was begun under Dr. Inderjit Kaur Sohlu, vice-chancellor, whose preface stresses the value of making scripture available in plain language for a mass readership. The contents run from the mulabhaje through mukhabhed and then the alphabetic word index of parchis, beginning with ajpa japu and ajamal and continuing to asmosekhi.
