What this book is about
Panjabi Made Easy, Book I, is a beginner's course by J.S. Nagra, MA, MEd, PhD, a retired Inspector of Schools, published by Nagra Publications, 399 Ansty Road, Coventry, with the first edition of November 1984, a second revised edition of March 1988 and numerous reprints through 2011. The introduction states that it is the first of a series meant primarily for beginners and also for teachers of pupils whose first language is English, that it was designed with the GCSE Panjabi examination in mind, and that a modified Roman script is used throughout to help learners hear Punjabi sounds, though the author urges everyone to learn the Gurmukhi script as well. A separate section explains that Punjabi has ten vowel sounds written with three carrier letters.
