Punjabi Vishav Kosh - Volume III
by www.DiscoverSikhism.com
What this book is about
Volume III of the Punjabi Vishav Kosh, the multi-volume Punjabi encyclopaedia issued by the Language Department of Punjab, edited by Balbir Kaur, Director of that department, and printed at Manuja Offset Works, Jalandhar. The title page gives a first edition of 1989 and a revised second edition of 2010, with 2,000 copies. The editor's note in 'do shabd' explains that the volume covers the entries from 'Islamabad' to the final headword, and that as in earlier volumes the encyclopaedia covers literature, fine arts, social studies and the sciences. A substantial preface sets out the rules of the dictionary, including that entries are arranged by the Gurmukhi alphabet and also by the first word of the heading, that articles on a place are distinguished by region, and that cross-references and a list of abbreviations appear at the end.
