What this book is about
Rehras Sahib is presented in an English translation with line-by-line translations of the Gurmukhi and word-by-word glosses, beginning with the introductory note that rehras is one of the five banis of the Nitnam, usually recited in the evening, and that the name combines reh (way) and ras (provisions for life's journey). The note lists the contents: nine hymns drawn from the Guru Granth Sahib, four by Guru Nanak Dev ji, three by Guru Ram Das ji and two by Guru Arjan Dev ji, with a Chopeyee, a Swayya and a Dohera by Guru Gobind Singh ji, six paurees of Anand Sahib by Guru Amar Das ji, and two closing shabads of Guru Arjan Dev ji. The text then opens with five shabads headed 'So Dar', beginning with Raag Aasa by the first Guru.
