What this book is about

This is part four of the Shabdaarth Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, a word-by-word dictionary of the Guru Granth Sahib. The contents pages visible in the scan divide the work into pothis and give the page ranges of the ragas covered in this part, including Sri Raag, Raag Maajh, Raag Gaudhi, Raag Dhanasi, Raag Jaitsari, Raag Todi, Raag Beri, Raag Tiling, Raag Nat Narayan, Raag Mali Gaud and Raag Tag, with the fourth pothi beginning on the pages that follow. In the body, entries are arranged alphabetically under their Gurmukhi headwords, and many lines are near-illegible in the scan while others are clear, giving a mixture of Gurmukhi, transliterated script and explanation. As with the earlier parts of such dictionaries, the purpose is to explain difficult words, unusual compounds and rare forms so that the scripture can be read and understood directly.
