What this book is about
Sikh Panth Vishavkosh, part one, is an encyclopaedia of Sikh belief, history and practice compiled under Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi and published by the Guru Rattan Publishers. A long submission (nivedan) explains the Sanskrit-derived word vishavkosh, a storehouse of knowledge on all subjects, and states the editor's method honestly: about 2,500 entries in the first part of seventy, drawn from his own twenty-five years of research into Sikh religion, society, history and shrines, and from 1,800 research articles published elsewhere by scholars whose true opinions he records as given. The entries are arranged alphabetically in two columns, beginning with terms such as Ugrai, Ugradanti, Uchcha Kapi, Uchchaker, Udasi, Updes and Upasana.
