What this book is about

Volume I of the Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth, the long verse biography of Guru Gobind Singh, here issued in Punjabi translation. The title page names Kavi Churamani Bhai Santokh Singh as author, gives Amritsar as the place of publication, a first edition of 1989 and a reprint of 2011, an extent of 5,000 pages, and a price of Rs 129. A contents list of some fifty-odd numbered sections follows, after which a preface begins to set out the subject. The body text is printed in an old Gurmukhi typeface that OCR renders only in part, so the verse is largely unreadable here, though a few dates in the preface come through clearly, among them 1845, 1878 and 1880.
