Sri Kalgidhar Chamatkar, the first volume (Purbardh) of a collected works of Bhai Vir Singh, edited by Dr. Jaswant Singh Neki and published by the Bhai Vir Singh Sahit Sadan, Bhai Vir Singh Marg, New Delhi 110001; this is the 28th edition of September 2011, and the Sadan lists its many editions back to a first edition of 1925. The preface explains that this is not a history book but a translation into Punjabi idiom of the bani of the Guru Granth Sahib and of the teachings of the ten Guru sahibs, made up of passages from tracks, gurdwara newspapers and other writings that would otherwise be lost. The volume is arranged in two parts, passages from the life of Guru Gobind Singh ji and then pieces about his life, character and completeness, and closes with an index of the songs.
